Jenna Reid

Born and bred in the musical heart of Shetland, Jenna Reid has become one of Scotland’s most distinctive and expressive fiddlers. Taught and inspired by legendary Shetland musicians Tom Anderson and Willie Hunter, Jenna’s playing carries the island’s rich tradition while embracing her own contemporary voice as a performer and composer.

A founding force in Scottish fiddle music, Jenna has released numerous acclaimed solo albums — most recently her deeply personal record One Day — each showcasing her lyrical style, compositional flair, and emotional depth.

For over 15 years, Jenna toured the world as a member of the award-winning ensemble Blazin’ Fiddles.  Her career has also seen her collaborate with chamber musicians, and artists across genres, establishing her as a leading figure in Scotland’s vibrant traditional music scene.

Jenna’s artistry has been recognised with numerous honours, including Composer of the Year and Up and Coming Artist of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards, as well as being named a finalist for the Paul Hamlyn Award for Composers.

Beyond the stage, Jenna is passionate about education and creativity. She is a teacher and speaker with the Benedetti Foundation, inspiring the next generation of young musicians. She also brings her voice to the airwaves as a freelance announcer on BBC One Scotland.

In 2024, Jenna expanded her artistic reach with the publication of her debut children’s book, Telescope Telescope, a heartfelt story that celebrates curiosity, imagination, and the magic of discovery — themes that echo through all her work.

From Shetland’s windswept shores to international concert halls, Jenna Reid continues to shape the sound and spirit of Scottish music with warmth, elegance, and creativity.
